Multirate Statistical Signal Processing

Multirate Statistical Signal Processing Summary:
Omid S. Jahromi, “Multirate Statistical Signal Processing”
Springer 2007 | ISBN-10: 1402053169 | 171 Pages | PDF | 2,5 MB

The ability to process signals at multiple sampling rates can help reduce costs and improve performance in many DSP applications ranging from signal compression to wireless communications, consumer entertainment products and sensor networks. The theory of multirate signal processing has witnessed a great dealof progress since the publication of the first textbook by Ronald E.Crochiere and Lawrence R. Rabiner in 1983. However, this progress hasbeen mainly in the area of deterministic systems with emphasis onperfect-reconstruction filter banks, orthogonal filter banks, systemswith the same sampling rate across all channels and tree-structuredsystems. Multirate Statistical Signal Processing introduces astatistical theory for extracting information from several related signals that have different sampling rates. This new theory generalizesthe conventional (deterministic) theory of multirate systems beyondmany of its constraints. Furthermore, it allows for the formulation andsolution of several new problemssuch as spectrum estimation, time-delay estimation and sensor fusion inthe realm of multirate signal processing. The author presentsbackground material, key principles, potential applications andleading-edge research while striking the appropriate balance betweenclarity and brevity. The book is self-contained and provides a valuableresource for signal processing researchers, graduate students andpracticing engineers.
